Richard Shaw


Richard Shaw is a shooting industry veteran.  He founded Cowtown Range in 1994 during his tenure as co-founder and co-owner of Shooter’s World in Phoenix, AZ.  He previously served as a Maricopa County Sheriff’s Posse member, firearms instructor, and FBI white collar crime consultant.  Richard also served for 5 years in the U.S Navy as a Naval Flight Officer and Legal Officer, and has over 40 year’s experience in real estate development, finance, and business consulting.  Richard holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Arizona State University, a Master of Public Administration from Harvard University, and is a member of the California State Bar.

Rick Shaw

Principal, General Manager

Rick has served as the GM of Cowtown Range since March of 2016 and GM of GPS Defense Sniper school since December of 2018.  Rick has over 20 years experience in real estate acquisition, development, leasing and zoning.  Rick practiced law for 8 years in Arizona, North Carolina, and Louisiana in the areas of criminal law, real estate, and business.  Rick served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 20 years as an Artillery Officer and Judge Advocate and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel.  He holds a BA degree in Business Administration and History and a Juris Doctor degree.

Kevin Freeland

Range Manager

Kevin has been with Cowtown Range since March of 2021 and manages the day to day on site operations of Cowtown Shooting Facility. Kevin also assists members, commercial users, and event operators with scheduling, targetry, range tours, and memberships.  Additionally, Kevin oversees maintenance, range improvements and grounds keeping.  Kevin is a retired Navy Aircrew Chief Petty Officer and was qualified as an Aerial Gunner Instructor and Small Arms Instructor. In addition to being a Range Master here at Cowtown he is a Certified Range Safety Officer, Pistol Instructor, Rifle Instructor, and CCW Instructor.

Corey Clancy

Training Manager

Corey has been involved with Cowtown and our sister training company, GPS Defense Sniper School, since 2012.  He has been in the firearms industry for over 20 years serving in a variety of roles in operations, instruction/training, and manufacturing.  He was Honorably discharged from the U.S. Marine Corps after 5 years of service as an Infantryman, Scout Sniper, and Scout Sniper Team Leader spending the bulk of his service in Afghanistan and Iraq.  Post Marine Corps, he worked as a private contractor PSS/DDM spending an additional six years in Afghanistan and Iraq.  Despite his extensive instructional and operational experience, Corey remains as approachable as ever.  His students always achieve their training goals and frequently return for more.

Addison Ruiz

Range Assistant Manager and Social Media

Addison has been with Cowtown since September of 2022, and he primarily assists the Range Manager and Training Manager with their regular duties.  he also focuses on retail sales, inventory, marketing, range maintenance and logistical matters.  he has been in the firearms industry since 2012, serving in a variety of capacities, to include, product design of firearm accessories, firearm manufacturing, firearm sales, marketing, and competitive shooting.  He also has substantial experience in training, to include, small arms, executive protection, CQB, home defense, field medical, long range precision, aerial use of force, and off-road recovery.  Addison served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 5 years as an Embarkation Specialist with the storied Blacksheep Squadron (VMA-214) in Yuma, AZ.  He deployed to Afghanistan in 2009 and was Honorably Discharged in 2012.

Tyler Gideon

Range Safety Officer

Tyler has been a range/maintenance clerk and heavy equipment operator for Cowtown since September of 2022.  He graduated from Buckeye Union High School in 2021 and is currently attending college pursuing a degree in business.  Tyler has excellent industry experience which he developed while at Armalite as an assembler for 14 months before being recruited to Cowtown.  Tyler is always eager to assist members to ensure they have the best experience possible while at the range.

Andrew Rauch

Paintball Manager

Andrew Rauch has been with Cowtown since March 2023.  He is responsible for the safety and enjoyment of our paintball customers.  Andrew designs games, oversees our referee staff, maintains our arena, and ensures each customer has a great experience.  He also assists with marketing and business development of our paintball line of business.  Andrew is eager to help groups of paintballers with birthday parties, bachelor/ette parties, family outings, and corporate team building events; and he can manage large groups up to 100 players.  When he’s not managing the paintball field, Andrew assists the Cowtown Range Manager with a variety of tasks.  He is an avid shooter and is currently pursuing a future career as a U.S. Boarder Patrol Agent.

Tony Lytton

Match Director

Tony has been operating Cowtown’s match competitions since 2018 and has been a competitive shooter since 2012.  He has an extensive background in 3-Gun competitions and excellent experience in USPSA pistol matches.  Tony has grown Cowtown’s competitions program from one weekly match to two weekly matches, three monthly matches, and one annual match.  Tony’s matches are reputed as some of the most enjoyable and efficient in metro Phoenix.

Josh Johnston

Match Coordinator

Josh has been assisting with Cowtown’s match competitions since 2018 and has been an important factor in growing and improving Cowtown’s robust competitions program.  Josh is a jack-of-all trades and his enthusiasm and energy is critical to the timely set up, operation, and tear down of Cowtown’s matches – he is an integral part of our match success.

Dewayne “Lattigo” Foster

Range Security

“Lattigo” has been providing security at Cowtown Range since the Civil War (well, maybe not quite that long).  He is a living legend of Cowtown and is an important part of keeping the range safe and secure.  He can be seen driving the range in his white pick-up truck and he’s always ready to tell some entertaining stories about his stuntman days, Civil War reenactment days, Gun-fighting days, and movie roles.  Feel free to stop and chat with him any time.
